We’ve seen The World, we’ve had a sneak peek of NJORD, and now eyes are set on Somnio. The latest luxury floating residence in development, Somnio offers 39 owners a unique and luxurious way of living permanently onboard a travelling superyacht. For the first time, developers have unveiled a first-look at the 728-foot-long vessel’s interiors – a joint effort between Tillberg Design of Sweden, Winch Design and Luttenberger Design. Owners can choose which of the three design firms they wish to work with to create their fully-customisable apartments, which range from 1,959 square feet to 10,365 square feet in size, set across six decks.
With each firm showcasing very different design styles, the designers talk us through their interior concepts and how they plan to work with Somnio owners to create their floating homes.
“Drawing upon all the studio’s experience designing the interiors of some of the world’s largest yachts, the team at Winch has dreamt up a wonderfully elegant interior that exudes refined sophistication with a neutral yet bold color palette, upon which owners can tailor to their personal tastes. It’s all about understanding the buyer’s lifestyle, deconstructing their likes and dislikes to make sure that every element of the design, from the choice of fabrics and lighting to the seating arrangements and bedroom views provides the best experience possible,” says Jim Dixon, Director, Yachts & Aviation at Winch Design.
“It’s an honor to be amongst such a talented group of designers for this prestigious endeavour. Luttenberger Design’s concept for Somnio has given preference to a lighter palette and natural materials with the intent to create a seamless transition from indoor to outdoor,” say Caroline Bredhe and Cristina Amaral, Co-Partners at Luttenberger Design.
Tillberg Design of Sweden
“The Somnio Yacht really is a unique project, and the level of ambition from the stakeholders is truly exceptional. We are applying all the combined experience we have from our work within private yachts, effective master planning of large vessels, and our deep understanding of residential life at sea. The outcome will be like nothing else that exists today; it really will be dream-like. The way the yacht is planned and equipped, and the interior and exterior design, together with the standard of outfitting, will make it as close to living on a private yacht that you can get without buying one of your own,” says Fredrik Johansson, Partner and Executive Director at Tillberg Design of Sweden.
Somnio will launch in 2024. Apartments start at €9.5 million ($10.8 million) and are available for purchase by invitation or referral.
