A First Look Inside The Iconic Home, the Virtual Showhouse from AD and the Black Interior Designers Network

2 min read

The Iconic Home, the virtual show house presented by AD and the Black Interior Designers Network, is set to open its doors on AD’s website come September 27. An all-new set of talent from the Black design community has brought the showcase to life through their imaginative creations.

Situated on a lush, green meadow, the home is a modern retreat focused on indoor-outdoor living. Elizabeth Graziolo, the architect behind the house, created a narrative to guide the design: Two fathers, a novelist and a floral designer, have moved to upstate New York to raise their young daughter. Each designer crafted a space within the home, keeping this narrative in mind.

Much of the given insight will focus on a task that was central to this year’s Iconic Home: creating stunning interiors that remain eco-friendly. The architecture, along with the interiors and landscape, focuses on a host of sustainable innovations that propel the show house into the forefront of design.

Once live, viewers will be able to explore the home in vivid detail through virtual walk-throughs. Selecting specific items in each space will reveal sourcing and product information, as well as various bits of wisdom from the creator.

The photo-realistic experience is produced by The Boundary, a leading company in architectural visualization. This year, the Iconic Home is presented in partnership with Method®, a leader in design-driven home and personal care products for over 20 years. On the heels of its “Method for change” campaign, which introduced refillable, aluminum bottles, the brand integration centers around making little acts of change joyful and addictive, so that every single person will want to be a part of it.

Throughout the house, there will be product innovations from Arhaus, Beautyrest, Crate & Kids, Garage Living®, Heat & Glo, Kohler, and Rémy Martin.

Read on for a first look at what The Iconic Home has in store.

Rasheeda Gray’s Entry and Salon

Gray wanted to make the homeowners and their guests feel an immediate release when entering the home. The resulting design is an exercise in zen yet still contains accent pieces that are quick to make a statement. Case in point: Lisa Whittington’s compelling collage Double Consciousness: the Strange Meaning of Being Black, which hangs above the double-sided fireplace.
